A charity concert for the Admiral Nurse Campaign

About The Admiral Nurse Campaign
There are currently about 200 people living in the Honiton area with a diagnosis of dementia, but dementia does not just affect one person. Whole families, from often elderly spouses to their children who may be caring for children of their own, through to grandchildren and out to extended family, friends, neighbours and indeed the whole community become involved.
Honiton Dementia Action Alliance supports families through our volunteer led memory cafe and dementia friendly activities such as the nostalgic cinema, ambling group and pub lunches.
However great these supportive informal networks are, the real challenges are faced at home and daily. We know that more is needed and in September 2017 we launched a campaign to have our own Specialist Dementia Nurse in Honiton. Known as Admiral Nurses these highly qualified practitioners are provided and supported by the charity Dementia UK. They work together with families offering one-to-one support and expert guidance from diagnosis to post bereavement.
Our initial aim is to secure enough funds for a three-year contract [£150K] and we are working with the whole community of Honiton to help us achieve this target.
We are hugely grateful to the Devon Youth Jazz Orchestra for supporting us with this concert, the proceeds of which will be extremely valuable in taking us one step closer to bringing much needed support to families living with dementia.
