Dementia Friendly Cinemas have proven to be very therapeutic for people with memory problems and their families. Besides engaging the brain and stimulating emotions, being part of an audience enjoying a film helps people with dementia and their carers to feel less isolated and also challenges the stigma associated with the condition.

All Nostalgic Cinema performances have subtitles to assist full enjoyment of the film by any members of the audience who are hard of hearing.

Whilst promoted as a dementia friendly screening, we hope anyone who loves the old films will come along for an afternoon of fond memories.

Tickets £5 - includes hot drink, biscuits and chat after the screening.
Ticket price includes £1 admin fee
Seats are not allocated for these showings.

In war-torn Rome, Floria Tosca and Mario Cavaradossi live for each other and for their art. But when Cavaradossi helps an escaped prisoner, the lovers make a deadly enemy in the form of Baron Scarpia, Chief of Police.
At the mercy of Scarpia's twisted desires, Tosca is forced to make a horrific bargain: sleeping with the man she hates in order to save the man she loves. Can she find a way out?

A star-studded cast includes soprano Anna Netrebko performing the role of Tosca, tenor Freddie De Tommaso as Cavaradossi, and bass-baritone Gerald Finley as Scarpia, with Music Director of The Royal Opera Jakub Hrua conducting his first new production in the role. An alternative, modern-day Rome provides the backdrop for Oliver Mears' unmissable, gripping new production of Puccini's thriller.

Sou' Westers Handbell Ensemble - Ringing For Gold

Sou' Westers Handbell Ensemble - Ringing For Gold
Sou ' Westers Handbell Ensemble Presents 'Ringing For Gold'
Running Time: 2 Hours 30 Minute (Including a 30 Minute Break

Tickets : General Admission £10. Under 19's £3
All tickets include a £1.50 Booking Fee

Special effects and exciting visuals will accompany the mellow sounds of traditional handbells in this concert featuring 30 ringers with more than 200 handbells and handchimes.

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the formation of the South West Region of the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain (HRGB), there will be ringers from almost every county in the region, from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and as far away as Oxfordshire.

This diverse group, the ‘Sou’westers’, get together each month in Taunton to play music that their own, smaller, teams are unable to tackle; many of the ringers are themselves conductors or leaders of handbell teams so this is their opportunity to actually play the bells themselves!

Their handbell repertoire is wide and their selection for this concert is likely to include music by composers as varied as Henry Mancini, Dmitri Shostakovich and Snow Patrol. Pieces written specially for handbells will contrast with music from the shows and films such as ‘Lord of The Rings’ and ‘Aladdin’ with fun pieces such as the ‘Banana Boat Song’ and many more.

Following triumphant Live in HD performances in Gounod's Romeo et Juliette, Verdi's La Traviata, and Donizetti's Lucia di Lammermoor, Nadine Sierra summits another peak of the soprano repertoire as Amina, who sleepwalks her way into audiences' hearts in Bellini's poignant tale of love lost and found. In his new production, Rolando Villaz on, the tenor who has embarked on a brilliant second career as a director, retains the opera's original setting in the Swiss Alps but uses its somnambulant plot to explore the emotional and psychological valleys of the mind. Tenor Xabier Anduaga co-stars as Amina's fiance, Elvino, alongside soprano Sydney Mancasola as her rival, Lisa, and bass Alexander Vinogradov as Count Rodolfo. Riccardo Frizza takes the podium for one of opera's most ravishing works, which will be transmitted live from the Met stage to cinemas in October.
