We’re back at The Beehive this October with a comedy heavyweight — the legendary Simon Evans takes the headline slot at Honiton Comedy Club!
With an unmistakable stage presence and a reputation for razor-sharp, intelligent stand-up, Simon is a regular on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, The News Quiz, and QI. His dry wit and brilliantly constructed routines have made him one of the most respected acts on the UK circuit.
This will be a standout night of comedy in Honiton, supported by a fantastic line-up of pro comedians.

Don’t miss it — these shows have a habit of selling fast!

Sou' Westers Handbell Ensemble - Ringing For Gold

Sou' Westers Handbell Ensemble - Ringing For Gold
Sou ' Westers Handbell Ensemble Presents 'Ringing For Gold'
Running Time: 2 Hours 30 Minute (Including a 30 Minute Break

Tickets : General Admission £10. Under 19's £3
All tickets include a £1.50 Booking Fee

Special effects and exciting visuals will accompany the mellow sounds of traditional handbells in this concert featuring 30 ringers with more than 200 handbells and handchimes.

Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the formation of the South West Region of the Handbell Ringers of Great Britain (HRGB), there will be ringers from almost every county in the region, from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, Gloucestershire and as far away as Oxfordshire.

This diverse group, the ‘Sou’westers’, get together each month in Taunton to play music that their own, smaller, teams are unable to tackle; many of the ringers are themselves conductors or leaders of handbell teams so this is their opportunity to actually play the bells themselves!

Their handbell repertoire is wide and their selection for this concert is likely to include music by composers as varied as Henry Mancini, Dmitri Shostakovich and Snow Patrol. Pieces written specially for handbells will contrast with music from the shows and films such as ‘Lord of The Rings’ and ‘Aladdin’ with fun pieces such as the ‘Banana Boat Song’ and many more.

Following triumphant Live in HD performances in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Verdi’s La Traviata, and Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, Nadine Sierra summits another peak of the soprano repertoire as Amina, who sleepwalks her way into audiences’ hearts in Bellini’s poignant tale of love lost and found. In his new production, Rolando Villazón—the tenor who has embarked on a brilliant second career as a director—retains the opera’s original setting in the Swiss Alps but uses its somnambulant plot to explore the emotional and psychological valleys of the mind. Tenor Xabier Anduaga co-stars as Amina’s fiancé, Elvino, alongside soprano Sydney Mancasola as her rival, Lisa, and bass Alexander Vinogradov as Count Rodolfo. Riccardo Frizza takes the podium for one of opera’s most ravishing works, which will be transmitted live from the Met stage to cinemas in October.

Dementia Friendly Cinemas have proven to be very therapeutic for people with memory problems and their families. Besides engaging the brain and stimulating emotions, being part of an audience enjoying a film helps people with dementia and their carers to feel less isolated and also challenges the stigma associated with the condition.

All Nostalgic Cinema performances have subtitles to assist full enjoyment of the film by any members of the audience who are hard of hearing.

Whilst promoted as a dementia friendly screening, we hope anyone who loves the old films will come along for an afternoon of fond memories.

Synopsis:

Lise, the only daughter of Widow Simone, is in love with the young farmer Colas, but her mother has far more ambitious plans for her. Simone hopes to marry her off to Alain, the son of the wealthy proprietor Thomas. Desperate to marry Colas rather than Alain, Lise contrives to outwit her mother’s plans.

65 years after its premiere, The Royal Ballet presents Frederick Ashton’s La Fille mal gardée. This affectionate portrayal of village life combines exuberant good humour and brilliantly inventive choreography in what is undoubtedly Ashton’s love letter to the English countryside. La Fille mal gardée whisks us away into pastoral bliss with Ferdinand Hérold’s cheerful score and Osbert Lancaster’s colourful designs.
