D'Click - Isla

D'Click - Isla

The D’Click company is a theatrical circus company that blends different circus disciplines, such as acrobatics and the Chinese pole, with theatre, full of imagination, poetry, gestures and a good dose of humour.

Isla is based on the dreams and hallucinations of three shipwrecked characters who find themselves alone and dependant on one another to survive and remake their stories.

D'Click use circus, acrobatics and Chinese pole to explore the limits of the island, telling stories that remind us of the subtle barrier that exists between physical theatre and dance, circus and risk, and magic and dreams.

Isla has been performed at festivals all over Spain and elsewhere in the world and it has received awards such as the 1st Award of the Noctivagos Theatre Certamen 2017 and the Award to best Aragonese circus performance of the Festival de Circo Ciudad de Zaragoza in 2017.

"Well-conceived and very well executed. There is imagination, risk, difficulty, precision, emotion and a lot of sense of humour. Yes, ‘Isla’ is a great show. Isla is so simple and so well-done that it is Essential." Heraldo de Aragón.

NT Live: All About Eve (12A)

NT Live: All About Eve

By Joseph L Mankiewicz

Adapted and directed for the stage by Ivo van Hove

Gillian Anderson (X-Files, NT Live: A Streetcar Named Desire) and Lily James (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again) lead in All About Eve, broadcast live to cinemas from the West End in London.

All About Eve tells the story of Margo Channing. Legend. True star of the theatre. The spotlight is hers, always has been. But now there’s Eve. Her biggest fan. Young, beautiful Eve. The golden girl, the girl next door. But you know all about Eve…don’t you…?

Lifting the curtain on a world of jealousy and ambition, this new production, from one of the world's most innovative theatre directors, Ivo van Hove (Network, NT Live: A View from the Bridge), asks why our fascination with celebrity, youth and identity never seems to get old.

All About Eve is adapted by Ivo van Hove from the 1950 Twentieth Century Fox film by Joseph L Mankiewicz and the play “The Wisdom of Eve” by Mary Orr. Ivo van Hove directs this new stage version with set and lighting design from Jan Versweyveld, costume design by An D’Huys and music from double Mercury Prize-winner PJ Harvey, alongside Tom Gibbons’ sound design. WISHBONE GOLD - Spring Tour 2019

Celebrating the 50th anniversary of the formation of the original Wishbone Ash,

one of the most enduring and best-loved British rock acts.

Featuring full performance of Wishbone Ash’s classic 1976 album “New England”

Martin Turner and his band return to the concert stages to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation of the original Wishbone Ash.

The Spring 2019 Wishbone Gold tour will see Martin and his band performing 1976’s iconic New England album – as well as other favourites from the classic era of Wishbone Ash, including Argus highlights.

New England was written and recorded in the loose environment of a basement rehearsal facility set up at Martin Turner’s Connecticut home, resulting in an album that was brimming with live energy. With a mix of powerful rock numbers such as “Runaway” and “Mother of Pearl”, alongside melodic cuts like “Lorelei” and “You Rescue Me”, the album was an instant crowd-pleaser. The band’s twin-guitar hallmark had never sounded so vibrant as on the album’s instrumental showcase “Outward Bound” and New England highlighted all that was great about Wishbone Ash.

Martin Turner’s Spring 2019 shows will mark the very first time New England has been performed in its entirety on stage and this tour is an event that no Wishbone Ash aficionado will want to miss.

Shlomo's Beatbox Adventure For Kids!

Shlomo is a world record-breaking beatboxer who makes all kinds of music using just his mouth and a mic. Join this sonic superhero and become one of his sidekicks in a world of funny sounds, brilliant noises and cool music, whether you’re aged 1 or 101!

★★★★★ BroadwayBaby:

"Shlomo had the audience eating out of his hand  from the start. A naturally gifted teacher, Shlomo wanted to show the next generation how to beatbox and they loved him for it.

Shlomo ended this joyous hour with a demonstration of where these simple techniques can lead and brought the house down in wonder at the impossible sounds coming from this man’s mouth. This is a guy at the very  top of his game and he has to be seen - or heard - to be believed!

Listening to the buzz from the children outside after the show, they clearly had a wonderful time. They excitedly queued up to meet Shlomo and high-five their hero.

Throughout, it was clear that the parents were having just as good a time as their kids – maybe even better."

Cold War (15)

Cold War

Written and Directed by Pawel Pawlikowski ('Ida')

Starring Joanna Kulig and Tomasz Kot

Duration: 88 mins.

Polish and French with English Subtitles

Winner at Cannes for Best Director, European Film Award for Best Film, Director, Actress, Editor and Screenwriter and New York Film Critics Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

Paweł Pawlikowski follows his Oscar-winning 'Ida' with the stunning 'Cold War', an epic romance set against the backdrop of Europe after World War II. Sumptuously shot in luminous black and white, it spans decades and nations to tell a love story that is as tragic as it is moving, and as transportive as it is honest.

Pawlikowski melds the personal with the political to exquisite effect. Set to a soundtrack that takes you from the rustic folk songs of rural Poland to the sultry jazz of a Paris basement bar, it’s a wistful and dreamlike journey through a divided continent - and a heartbreaking portrait of ill-fated love.

'..a near-perfect film, an artfully crafted, flawlessly acted meditation on love, memory and invented history that is both deeply personal and politically attuned'.Washington Post

'..a glorious throwback – a film made with a verve and lyricism which rekindles memories of the glory days of European New Wave cinema'. Independent

Duration: 126 mins.

Lebanese with English Subtitles

Cannes Jury Prize Winner when it received a 15 minute standing ovation. Nominated for BAFTA, Oscar and Golden Globe Awards.

From acclaimed director Nadine Labaki comes a stunning and unforgettable new film.

In a courtroom, a young boy named Zain stands before a judge. He asks to sue his own parents for giving him life. The circumstances that have brought him to this point take us on a journey through his poverty-stricken upbringing in Beirut where he lives with his family.

Forced to live by his wits in order to survive, Zain’s life reaches a turning point and young Zain takes to the road. While looking for work at a fairground, he meets Cockroach Man and befriends a young woman who is working illegally as a cleaner and struggling to care for her baby, Jonas. Zain and Jonas form a touching bond but things get much more complicated when circumstances force Zain to make choices that will have huge ramifications.

'Capernaum' is a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit – a battle cry for the forgotten, the unwanted and the lost that offers hope in the most unexpected of places.

'Capernaum', a sprawling tale wrenched from real life, goes beyond the conventions of documentary or realism into a mode of representation that doesn’t quite have a name. It’s a fairy tale and an opera, a potboiler and a news bulletin, a howl of protest and an anthem of resistance. New York Times
