…a note on Gary Moore
Blues rock fans, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for! The Gary Moore Blues Experience is on the road again continuing its Steppin’ Out Tour 2025, bringing the legendary sound of one of the greatest guitarists of all time back to the stage. Whether you’re a lifelong fan or just discovering the magic of Gary Moore, you won’t want to miss it.
As an instrumentalist, he was formidable, able to shred with the best of them, to play at lightning speed, as well as tastefully and not just for the sake of it. One of the all-time great bluesmen, Albert King, said about him, “He got a good ear, he can listen, he got all kinds of power, all kinds of fire. Turns it up enough so he can feel it”.
He possessed tone to make guitarists sweat and salivate, variously referred to as “fiery”, “intense”, “sweet”, “sublime”, “aggressive”, “mouthwatering”. He also had an unusual technique in which his monster middle finger was a prominent hammer, with a reach spanning two frets between the index finger and the second finger, when most guitarists span two frets with the index and the third finger.
He covered a wide range of styles in his career, including progressive jazz rock (Colosseum II), heavy rock (Thin Lizzy, Ozzy Osbourne), Celtic rock, and the Blues to which he returned in 1990 with collaborations with the blues greats Albert Collins, BB King, Albert King, John Mayall and other luminaries such as George Harrison.
He also contributed some timeless songs, many of them ballads of the highest quality, in any era, which have become classics: Still Got the Blues for You, Story of the Blues, Midnight Blues, Still in Love with You and his mainstream hit, Parisienne Walkways.
So, expect electrifying performances of those classics. Every note, every solo and every heartfelt lyric will be played with the passion and intensity that made Gary Moore a true icon.
There was, and is,
no one quite like him.
