In this special semi-acoustic performance,
Barbara Dickson and her pianist Nick Holland explore her catalogue of songs at
an intimate level. Barbara lets the words and melodies take ‘centre stage’ as she
performs a wonderful range of material drawing on her folk roots, contemporary
greats, and some of her classic hits.
Emerging from the Scottish folk scene of the
late 1960’s Barbara enjoyed mainstream chart successes with hits including
‘Answer Me’, ‘Another Suitcase in Another Hall’, ‘Caravan’ and the
million-selling number one single, ‘I Know Him So Well’.
As Scotland’s best-selling female album
artist, she has earned 6 platinum, 11 gold and 7 silver albums and cemented her
status as one of the UK’s best-loved performers. Nick Holland joined Barbara’s
touring band in the mid 2000’s and has remained with her ever since, playing
keyboards and producing her recent albums.
Special guest will be Anthony Toner,
an artist acclaimed as much for his insightful and poetic lyrics as for his
mastery of fingerstyle guitar and engaging onstage patter. He has shared the
stage with everyone from folk legends Barbara Dickson and Frances Black to
country music heroes Guy Clark and Nanci Griffith and blues/jazz superstar Van
Morrison.

From the files of Scotland Yard come these startling stage adaptations of infamous true-life nineteenth century crimes. During the course of this macabre performance, you'll encounter many nefarious individuals from late Victorian London, such as the infamous Whitechapel Murderer Henry Wainwright. He murdered his mistress in a particularly bloodthirsty manner, and hoped to escape justice. However, the dismembered corpse of Harriet Lane refused to stay hidden.
You will also meet the Lambeth Poisoner Dr Thomas Neill Cream, the sadistic serial killer and possibly the dreaded Jack the Ripper also. His murder spree on both sides of the Atlantic made his name a byword for horror.
The company is now in its fifteenth year of touring. We are one of the UK's busiest and hardest-working small-scale theatre companies, and we are unique in that we specialise solely in original adaptations of classic Victorian and Edwardian popular fiction, and stageworks based on actual events from that era.
